She Walks....
Sassy Mae Amstrong continued.....
FIVE
Vaseline
Lawd knows I'se tired of walking,
Can you believe the dust out here.
They need to do something about this,
I can't be doing this again.
I know Amos home,
They saw him gin his cotton.
They know he got some money in his pocket,
'Cause the white man give it to him.
He ain't got no where else to go,
And I know he ain't coming to town.
If dat ole woman just leaves me be,
I be out of here foe' day.
Sassy walked and walked,
Sassy hit at the flies.
Sassy fanned with her big straw hat,
Picked up a rock and threw it at a snake.
If I get enough and hit with the numbers,
Won't have to come out here no mo'e.
Is that ole woman still on that porch,
One day I'm gonna put her in her place.
Sassy Mae Armstrong reached in her purse,
Got the Vaseline jar and sat down.
Greased up them skinny legs of hers,
"Amos, you ain't got a chance tonite boy!"
SIX
Nighttime
Now I hope there ain't no trouble tonite,
They say Sassy done left town.
Where possibly could that woman go,
My jail gon be full tonite.
Soon's I finish this coffee,
And swallow this donut.
Be riding thru the quarters,
And see what they doing.
Trouble is what trouble does,
And trouble don't come calling no more.
I've seen trouble in the morning,
And trouble in the evening.
I seen trouble all around me,
And trouble done seen me too.
I member the day trouble walked in,
Came right off town road.
There is sumptin bout them folk on the bottom,
Don't bother nobody no they don't.
Lest some fool goes out there and stirs up
trouble,
Now thats one thing they ain't 'fraid of.
Where you 'spose Sassy done gone,
Why did she have to leave town now.
I gotta find that woman tonite,
"Foe trouble walks in on me.

Saturday Night
Some woman's daughter gon be mine tonite,
Sassy Mae done up and gone.
Got my radio tuned to WLAC,
Gon' bring me a sistah home.
Took me a bath on the back porch,
Got that water as hot as I could.
Put that tub on that old fire place,
And filled that sucker with wood.
Came out the fields at noon,
The man wanted me to work till dusk.
PapaDaddy going to town tonite,
Washing ‘way all this husk.
Got my khakis starched and ironed,
My patent leather shoes on too.
My shirt stands up on it's own,
So fine I don't know what to do.
Gon' stop by the club on the back street,
Me and Sassy Mae Armstrong gon' have a
ball.
Whatever that little skinny woman got tonite,
PapaDaddy gon' git it all.
I'll put a quarter in the Seeburg,
Take that girl out on the floor.
We gon' turn the lights down low and grind,
And keep my eyes on the door.
Gon' throw down tonite y'all,
Me and Sassy Mae wall to wall.

Not Me
I ain't seen nothing,
Don't know nothing either.
Ain't seen a thing I tell you,
I wasn't even there.
Ain't my day to watch her,
She could be dead for all I know.
If you really wanna find Sassy Mae,
You better find her yourself.
Folk always come in here asking me,
Who I see or who been here.
Ain't got no time to be in your bizness,
And you sho better stay out of mine.
(You know I seen Sassy Mae Armstrong,
She tried to get me to run her to the
bottom.
But its hot out there now,
And the dust billows.
But ain't telling Papadaddy,
Dat boy ain't got no sense.
There's liable to be trouble somewhere
tonite,
When he find out where she done gone.)
Papa Daddy, what you drinking man,
Let me pop the cork on sumptin that's
cold.
I know you having a good time in this joint,
It's party time up in here!
